What is cryotherapy
Cryotherapy is treatment by low temperatures. Cooling the body as a medical treatment has been practiced since ancient times. Nowadays, instead of placing cold water compresses or ice packs, innovative chemical-based cold packs are applied for a prolonged chilling effect without melting. Extremely low temperatures can be tolerated by the human body just for a short time, yet they have been developed into acceptable and useful application methods like cryochamber or skin cryotherapy.

How cryotherapy helps
Generally, lowering the temperature of the whole body or its parts is useful in cases of inflammation or swelling either due to an infection or following an injury. The cold makes the blood vessels shrink and reduces the swelling and pain. Extreme cold applied locally kills target cells that need to be destroyed (e.g. skin warts) and stimulates the growth of new healthy tissue, whereas whole-body exposure to extremely low temperatures subsequently boosts immunity and stimulates body regeneration.
