We’ve put together a summary of the most important events for you here:

Extensive Theatre Programme

The 150-year-old city theatre invites local and visiting ensembles to the stage for theatre performances, concerts, and folklore shows. Take a look at the current programme – you’re bound to find something of interest.

Spring Festival

Visit the Anglican church in Marienbad on Easter Sunday afternoon. The Marjánek folklore group puts on musical and dance performances, and you can enjoy traditional Bohemian dishes, learn about local customs, and take part in creative workshops.

Spa Season Opening Festival

On the second weekend of May, the spa season opens with a big festival. Observe the blessing of the mineral springs and watch a parade with many historical costumes. Visit the crafts market and take in the concerts.

Singing Fountain Opening and Closing Parties

Each year, on April 30 at 9pm, the Singing Fountain is re-opened after a winter break. At the end of October, the fountain closes with its last concert of the season.

Chopin Festival

Frederic Chopin was one of Marienbad’s most famous guests. Each year, the Chopin Festival is dedicated to him during the third week of August. It also happens to be one of the five oldest music festivals in Europe. International musicians and composers perform in what has become one of the highlights of Marienbad’s cultural offerings. Every two years, young pianists compete in a Chopin piano competition as part of the festival.

West Bohemian Symphony Orchestra

Marienbad is home to the oldest symphony orchestra in the Czech Republic. Founded in 1821, today it puts on concerts all-year-round. Enjoy the excellent artistry of this orchestra and let the music sweep you away.

Galleries and Exhibitions

Take a peek into the town’s galleries. National and international artists exhibit their work in Marienbad. A new exhibition also opens in the city museum every month.

PechaKucha Night

At this festival, architects, designers, and photographers display their work and discuss them at the afterparty.

Marienbad Grand Prix

There is also a Grand Prix in Marienbad. No, we’re not talking about Formula 1 racing. Marienbad hosts the Grand Prix of pétanque. This game, which resembles lawn bowling, requires great precision. Watch how skilfully master players roll the balls.

Jazz Spa

At the end of June and beginning of July, jazz fans stream into this resort town. Let the music and relaxed atmosphere carry you away.

Historical Car Show

The annual vintage car meet-up in the city centre seems particularly appropriate for this historical town. Admire polished wagons from times long gone.

A Pocket Full of Fairy Tales

Fairy tales take over Marienbad every second and third week of July. In the courtyard of the Chopin House, various theatre groups perform for children and all audience members who still feel the magical pull of fairy tales.

Marienbad Film Festival

Marienbad provides a picturesque backdrop for this film festival. The films are projected onto a big screen, creating a special atmosphere in the town.

Autumn in Marienbad

Autumn comes alive with folklore. Colourful costumes, loud music, good cheer, and typical Czech enthusiasm set the tone for this international festival. Join in and celebrate.

Mushroom Exhibition

This exhibition is worth seeing – the amount of mushrooms, recipes, and dishes will astound you. Expert mycologists will show you how to tell different kinds of mushrooms apart.

Apple Spa Festival

Crisp, fresh apples take centre stage at the annual Apple Festival in the colonnade. Homemade products highlight the region’s fruit and vegetables. Of course, you’re welcome to sample them all.

Marienbad Open

Haven’t played chess in a while? Then make sure to head over to Marienbad’s International Chess Festival. It is open to professionals and amateurs alike. Make a few moves and check-mate your opponent.

Running and Cross-Country Competitions

Sports fans will enjoy the Spa Run and cross-country skiing. Amateurs and competitive athletes meet and race. Join in and enjoy both events’ accompanying programmes.

Dance the night away

Are Chopin and Folklore not your style? Do you prefer DJs and rock music? Then Marienbad’s clubs and discos are sure to have something for you. For example, visit:
