What is local cryotherapy

Local cryotherapy means healing by cold packs or compresses. It is a traditional procedure. Modern cold packs contain a chemical substance that effectively maintains a low temperature for longer time. They are available in different sizes and need to be stored in a freezer between applications.

How local cryotherapy helps

Cold packs reduce pain and swelling in acute joint inflammation, muscle, ligament or joint injuries. They are applied several times daily as needed until the swelling subsides.
